Maria Caponetti, LCSW
Maria is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Quinnipiac University and went on to pursue her Master of Social Work at Columbia University. She has extensive experience working with adolescent and young adult populations across a variety of settings, including a therapeutic day school, a psychiatric hospital, and a dual diagnosis residential treatment center. The majority of Maria’s clinical work to date has focused on mood disorders, substance use, life transitions, and complex trauma.
Stylistically, Maria strongly believes in a collaborative, values-driven approach to therapy, and primarily applies a person-centered, DBT-informed lens in her work with individuals and families. She strives to create a space that balances warmth and authenticity with honesty and directness, and she appreciates opportunities to utilize humor for challenging stuck patterns and fostering deeper self-awareness.
“Be curious, not judgmental.”
